A group project to create a remotely-controlled rover that can explore a simulation hazardous store room and identify unusual materials.

Each material is contained in a non-labelled drum and will have certain properties - signals/combination of signals. The Rover needs to be able to detect these properties and classify the drums that it finds.

Designed the circuitry for the sensors (radio and infrared sensors) and carried out the implementation and testing of the sensors.

Aided in the integration between the circuity and the micro-controller.

Radio Sensor Implementation:

It would consist of 3 stages: the resonant circuit, amplification, and demodulation. The resonant circuit was formed by coiling a wire to form an inductor that acts as an antenna, connecting it in parallel with a capacitor, which will allow filtering of specific frequency. A MOSFET was used as a switch to switch between different capacitance value to allow to filter between 2 desired frequencies. The received signal is then amplified and demodulated to be processed to the next stage

Infrared Sensor Implementation:

A potential divider circuit with a photo-transistor and resistor, with the output connected into an op amp for amplification

The role also included being the group secretary and kept records meetings, decisions, research & technical notes.
